LASIK

Smiling WomanThe treatments for vision problems are normally glasses or contacts; However, these solutions are only temporary! LASIK can help you obtain the best vision possible.

What is LASIK?

At Tashner Vision clinic, we take great pride in helping you manage your LASIK care. LASIK, also known as laser eye surgery, is a refractive surgery for the correction of myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism! The recovery time for this type of surgery varies. However, most patients acquire perfect vision two to seven days after their surgery!

Why should I consider LASIK?

Convenience plays a huge role in why so many people choose to get LASIK. If you are tired of waking up and not having crisp vision, worrying about your prescription glasses or putting in contacts day in and day out, you should consider letting go of those hassles and try LASIK!

LASIK Eye Surgery Process

How do I know if I am a good candidate?

LASIK can be really successful when performed on the right patients! Generally speaking, if you are 18 years of age to 65 years of age and you have healthy eyes, you are a great candidate for LASIK! Two of the biggest factors in determining candidacy comes with age and eye health. Your age and eye health are two things that Dr. Tashner will consider and analyze during your comprehensive eye exam to determine if LASIK is right for you.

However, this is not to say that candidates under the age of 18 cannot receive LASIK. For those under 18, LASIK works on a case-by-case basis! It is always safe to ask Dr. Tashner if you are a good candidate and if you can set up a pre-operative exam!

Keep in mind that your prescription does not have to be stable in order to get LASIK. In many cases, any change in your eyesight after the age of 18 will be minor, which means that any surgeon can perform LASIK once you’re ready. However, as a general rule of thumb, many LASIK surgeons want to be sure that your prescription has changed too drastically in the year leading up to your surgery.

I’m ready for LASIK, what’s the next step?

Dr. Tashner will help you decide if LASIK would help you obtain the best vision possible. Calling the office and setting up a pre-screening for LASIK is the first step. If confirmed that you are a good candidate, you will be referred to a local surgeon trusted by Dr. Tashner and Dr. Tashner can help you manage your pre- and post-operative care!
